With football season in full swing, I figured it was time for me to dust
off the tale of my greatest moment on the gridiron.
It was while I was in High Sch...

Manawa is going to be hoppin on Saturday. The Psycowpath mtb race is happening at almost the same time. The first race goes off at 10am, but people will start showing up at 8am, so be prepared to deal with traffic. I'm super bummed that I have on-call duty that day, so I'm missing out on either a TT or a mtb race. grrr...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the note & heads up on the MTB race. Sorry to hear that you're on call.
ReplyDeleteWhat are your Sunday plans?
There's going to be a pro from Team Type 1 at Bike Masters on Saturday, too. And Spence and Dave Rogers and Landen will probably be there. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteOoh, ooh! I just traded on call weekends with a co-worker, so I'm set for this weekend. Now the question is, do I want to race on the mtb, do a fun TT for the hey of it, or get pummeled on a group ride with a pro and the local fast guys???
ReplyDeleteHHHmmmmmm....
Sunday I'm free besides having to take Michelle to work at noon. So before 11:30am or after 12:30pm sounds like good riding time.
all three options will hurt. a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think option 2, the TT, would be the wisest for me. I don't have to spend money like at the MTB race (except on food, but I would've done that anyway), and it's not 3+ hours of pain like on the group ride. Plus I miss doing LT work. I'm gonna suck pretty bad since the only riding I've done this last week has been commuting or riding with the woman.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wish I lived 10-15 miles from work so I could get more time in on the bike just on the commute. But the lack of sleep would be not so fun. I've already been barely getting 5-6 hours of sleep, so waking up, getting ready, and getting to work within 40 minutes is quite nice.
So Bryan, have fun on the group ride from hell and Brady, I'll see you in the AM.
Mike: my Triathlon friends have not responded to a change in venue yet. I'll keep you posted.
ReplyDeleteThe two time trials are very short. Unless you intend to ride afterwards, the workout will be hardly worth the effort. I was intending to run afterwards, but I could be talked into going for a longer group ride with you.
As for the longer commute: you gotta be kidding me. Get up earlier and peddle the opposite way five miles or more for extra distance. There's your lecture for the day. son.
I intend to do the Ft Calhoun loop before work (6:00 AM) with Sean sometime soon. Get up and join us!
Brady, I was thinking about riding to the TT and home actually. That would make it worth it. I'd also get a great warmup, get a couple intervals in, then ride home easy. So that's my plan unless you guys change the place. But even then, I might do the same.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to getting up early, I have to be at work by 6:30am. So unless I want to start going to be before the 10pm news, there's no way I can do much before work on the bike. Granted, that's going to change next month as I start a 7:30am to 4:30pm shift. But still, I have to be at work around 7:15 so I can change and whatnot.
And your point about just adding distance to my ride; that is something I really should do regardless. I just can't seem to get motivated to do so. When I was first starting out in cycling, I couldn't wait to find a new route or push myself a little harder each day after work. Now that I've done every possible route at least 10 times over and have no reason to push myself, it's tough to ride just for the sake of riding. It becomes work, not play. Only social riding is fun for me, nowadays. I would have ended up like Jon Randell and not touch a bike for weeks on end if I had not stuck to commuting and riding with you guys. Not trying to be hard on Jon, but his situation kind of limits his riding options. He lives at 156th and Q and works at 90th and Dodge - not a fun commute at all. He's also miles away from any of his riding buddies. So I completely understand his situation. I'm just glad my commute is decent and I have some friends that are always amped to go riding on weekends. It really helps.
So anyway, I'll see you hopefully tomorrow for some TT action.
Brady, just to let you know, there's not going to be a MTB race at Manawa this weekend. With all the rain, there is too much submerged trail to have a race. So the area should be free and clear to do practice TTs on. I still plan on being there by 8am.
ReplyDeleteWell that settles it then. See you at 8:00 AM.
ReplyDeleteSo Brady, how did the race go?
